Sometimes I wish I were still a little kid so that my parents would have to take care of me. I get a little overwhelmed with all of the responsibilities of life as an adult. There are so many choices and decisions that need to be made on a daily basis for me and my family that I get a little overwhelmed and sometimes make the wrong decisions. One of those wrong decisions was choosing not to seek out affordable health insurance when I had the chance. With the new laws coming into play shortly we were forced to take the insurance that was available through my husbands were because I procrastinated for so long. And now we have monthly premiums that we cannot afford for insurance that we may or may not ever use. Fortunately for us me and my family are very healthy and have not had to seek medical care in years. I received some information in the mail from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois shortly before we had to make a choice about the insurance and my husband’s work and I wish I would’ve gone with that particular plan, we could’ve saved ourselves money in the long run.

Insurance as a whole makes me frustrated because I feel like I’m just taking a gamble. The only form of insurance that makes any sense to me is trying to find cheap life insurance. I know that if anything was to happen to me and I passed the life insurance policy could quite possibly be worth its weight in gold. As it stands I’ve had to make decisions about auto insurance, life insurance, health insurance and homeowner insurance. I did learn a lot while comparing prices and coverage so when the need arises and we need to make a change I’ll know more than I ever wanted to about insurance and how it affects your daily life.

A few years ago we had to take care of my mother lived with us. I had to help her determine what type of Medicare supplemental insurance would be best for her. In doing research on each of the different plans that are available I learned that the coverage is very beneficial as well as being very cost effective for someone who is on a fixed income. When open enrollment occurred at the end of the year my mother decided to go with a Medicare part C plan. We were able to make this decision by calling the experts at 1-800-MEDIGAP. They were able to talk us to the application process and get my mother the coverage she needed.
