A job loss is always tough. In the US, the unemployment rate is still quite high. The experts tell us it will not go down soon. In addition to worry over money to pay bills, many people lose health insurance benefits when they lose their jobs.

But unemployed people can find some ways to get health coverage for their families. There are unemployment health insurance alternatives that should be checked out! The right health plan to tide a family over will depend upon their own situation.

Some employers must extend group medical for several months after an employee is terminated. You may have heard of COBRA health plan extensions before. This may be a good option, and it should be considered if a person or family needs group medical benefits.

However, now the unemployed person has to pay more for their coverage. They have to pay their old employee portion. But they also have to pay the employer portion and an administrative fee. Many terminated employees are shocked at the high bills they get to keep their group medical benefits.

Some individuals or families may have cheaper alternatives. There is a large and active private major medical market. Premiums may be lower for some families and individuals. However, private plans may not cover everything that a group plan covers.

Another big problem is insurance declines. People with pre-existing health conditions may get declined by insurance companies. Not everybody qualifies for individual health plans.

Every state has some sort of high risk health pool for declines. It can be a good option for people who cannot get other coverage, but it can also be expensive in some states. There is a new federal health plan that should have lower premiums, but it has not been fully implemeented yet in every area.

Look for more details abot state and federal high risk health insurance in your state. The national plan is new, and still evolving, but your state website should have updated details.

If you have a very low income and few assets, you might be able to get covered by Medicaid. This is a federal health insurance plan for the poor.

CHIPS is the national health insurance program for the children of low to moderate income families. It also covers pregnant women. This may be a good aternative to make sure that kids and pregnant women are covered.

There are also county health systems and federal clinics that provide some health care on a sliding scale fee. The Partnership for Prescription Assistance runs a website which helps people find low cost or free prescriptions. Their website, PPARX.org, is a great resource to find all sorts of medical help if you do not have much money.

Pre-Existing Conditions And Can’t Afford COBRA – How I Finally Got Health Insurance

I had a really hard time getting health insurance for me and my family. I had insurance through my employer but when I lost my job and couldn’t afford the COBRA payments, I lost my health insurance. Not having health insurance is very scary when you have a wife and four children to take care of.

I got some quotes and applied for coverage with a local insurance agent. That agent had a website that I had to go on to fill out the online application. It was easy enough.

The agent eventually told me that we were declined coverage because of a “pre-existing condition.” I had some minor back issues throughout my life and the insurance company declined us as a result.

I was at a loss. I needed insurance but couldn’t afford COBRA. I found a website called Health Insurance Anthem Blue Cross. I filled out the application there and was contacted by the agent for Blue Cross. He told me that I could apply as a group and I wouldn’t need to worry about the “pre-existing” conditions – that I couldn’t be declined. My wife and I had an LLC that we filled a few years prior so we used that LLC to call ourselves a “group” and submitted the application accordingly.

We went through the process of applying online and had to show proof that the LLC was active and that my wife and I were members of the company. After about a week, Blue Cross issued our policy! My wife and I (and all of our kids) finally had coverage and we were very happy with the way things turned out. We opted for a PPO and it was the type of coverage that paid our medical bills at 100% as soon as the annual deductable was met. Because my fourth child was born and my wife had to have a C-Section, our deductable was met almost immediately and all of our medical bills for the rest of that year were covered at 100% by Blue Cross! That policy saves us something like $40,000 that year because as it turned out, I needed to have another back surgery after all!

I like that I was able to complete the application process online as opposed to turning in a hand-written application. It was also very important to me to have access to a knowledgeable insurance agent who could answer our questions and guide us though this process.

Finding Health Insurance In Middle Age

One age group that has trouble finding private major medical plans are those who are over 50, but not yet 65 so they can get Medicare. While people of any age can have trouble finding an affordable policy, this age seems to get hit particularly hard for a variety of reasons. This is the time of life where people start to develop some health issues that do not seem to affect 30 year olds as much. Insurers can preduct that they will have to spend more money on a typical 55 year old than a 35 year old person. So it can be harder to find affordable premiums, or even to be accepted at all.

But, we Baby Boomers are a smart group and where there is a will, there is a way. So let’s look at some of the options:

If you currently have a job and are looking to retire or start your own business, you have a couple of avenues you can investigate. First you can inquire if your company will let you buy health insurance through the company plan. If your company will let you do this your employer (assuming we are talking early retirement) may subsidize part of your premiums. If not, you still get group rates which are a whole lot cheaper than individual rates. If you are married and your spouse is still working strongly consider adding yourself to his/her plan if that option is available to you.

The next option (if you currently have a job which provides health insurance) is COBRA or Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. COBRA lets former employees and their dependents continue their employer’s group coverage for up to 18 months. The best thing about COBRA is it is guaranteed. Your former employer’s insurer can’t turn you down even if you have a chronic medical condition. The worst thing about COBRA is the cost. Your employer generally covers 70% or more of your health insurance premium. With COBRA you have to pay the whole premium plus administrative costs. Industry surveys indicate based on an average premium (for 2007), a former employee would have to pay more than $373 a month for individual coverage and more than $1,008 a month for family coverage.

People without group health insurance can still be coverage. Some people, with health issues like high blood pressure, may need to go to their state’s high risk plan in order to get covered though. All states have their own plans, and many of them still cost a lot. It is a way, however, to get covered if you have been declined by private insurers.

Some people get their coverage through a professional alliance. These plans may use their buying power to get higher benefits or lower prices than an individual could bargain for. If you are a member or any organization, check out this option.

Finally, there is the individual health insurance option. There has been some progress in terms of offerings of policies for the 50-65 year age group market mainly because insurers see this age group as a potential growth market. Many Baby Boomers are in good health and have higher income than younger people. Also insurance companies hope that retirees will still purchase their products, such as supplemental insurance, even after they’re eligible for Medicare. Some of policies currently offered may have premiums as low as $200 per month for people who are in good health and willing to pay a high deductible. Many insurance advice columnists recommend combining a high deductible individual health insurance policy with a health savings account. HSA contributions are made with pretax dollars, and any money left over in the account at the end of the year is rolled over for future use. Withdrawals are not taxed if used for qualified medical expenses.

Finding Cheap Medical Insurance – Is It Even Worth The Money?

Healthcare costs are on everyone’s minds lately and finding cheap medical insurance is everyone’s goal. Even couples making six figures a year are having trouble buying decent medical insurance. Even with company sponsored plans, the employee usually needs to pay a small fortune for either all the premium, or the majority of the premium. Some states are outrageously expensive because of the makeup of the state’s population. In areas where there are high percentages of elderly and poor people looking for free medical care, it’s the consumer who has a policy that pays the price for everyone.

Our government is actively researching options to provide affordable healthcare to everyone but even if everyone can ever get to the point of agreeing on the details, this new plan won’t even take effect for another five years. However, if that ever does happen, no one can tell us how “affordable” this insurance will be.

As any consumer knows, however, you get what you pay for. Whether it’s a used car, a pair of shoes, or medical insurance, there are good deals and bad when it comes to what you get for your money. And, as educated consumers, it’s up to us to make sure we know where the deals are what we are paying for.

Although “cheap” insurance exists, it’s usually nothing worth the money it costs. The major reason why any type of insurance would be considered cheap is that there is an unreasonably high annual deductible usually well over $5, 000 for the family, and the plan doesn’t cover what we’d expect. Some of these cheap policies don’t cover emergency room visits without prior authorization which, in most cases, in an unrealistic expectation.

This type insurance also comes with a very narrow group of doctors who accept these insurance payments. After all, if you aren’t paying much for the insurance, the insurance company in return isn’t going to pay the doctors much either. “Cheap” runs full circle in these cases. And for doctors willing to take these super low payments, you need to wonder why they would.

It’s a good idea to research the doctors on your plan. Each state has a special website that allows this type of research on licensed healthcare providers. You will be able to see their education, affiliations, patient complaints, lawsuits, etc. You may not like what you see.

They also are able to keep their premiums lower than most because they take your money for months before insuring you. Sometimes it could be nine months before you can submit a claim and expect to be paid. Usually these costs don’t even apply toward your annual deductible!

In most cases, the doctors expect you to pay them directly. Since they are already making very little money with this insurance, they don’t want to wait to be paid. They expect you to wait to be paid. After each visit you need to pay out of your own pocket, submit the claim, and wait months for a check. And, yes, there’s a good chance you won’t be reimbursed for everything. Keep in mind they are only in business to make money, and the fewer claims they pay, the better off they are.

However, with your job, employer-sponsored health insurance goes too, which might be a bigger worry for you. Short term health insurance may provide you with just the coverage you need during this tough time.

Short term medical insurance is ideal for those who are recent graduates, in between jobs, waiting for employer insurance to kick in, and part-time employees. Early retirees can also purchase short term health insurance to tide over the period before Medicare benefits can be availed.

As soon as you lose employment, voluntarily or not, the one avenue for health insurance that strikes you is COBRA insurance. While COBRA continues long-term coverage without a break, it is expensive, sometimes even beating COBRA insurance alternatives in cost.

Were you anticipating yet another G.I JOE movie with all the action & the adventure? Have you been a G.I JOE fan all along?

You will be happy to know that the most awaited film of the year is back with a bang. Directed by Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, Van Helsing), G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra stars an interesting young cast including Sienna Miller (Factory Girl), Channing Tatum (Public Enemies), Joseph Gordon-Levitt ((500) Days of Summer), Marlon Wayans (Dance Flick), Rachel Nichols (”Alias”) and Ray Park (X-Men) as well as veteran actors Dennis Quaid (Vantage Point) and Christopher Eccleston (Gone in Sixty Seconds).

The filming of the movie took place in Downey, California and Prague’s Barrandov Studios, and six different companies handled the visual effects. G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra is a 2009 American live-action film adaptation of the G.I. Joe toy franchise, the story follows two American soldiers, Duke and Ripcord, who join the G.I. Joe Team after being attacked by MARS troops.

In the beginning of the plot of the movie the Scotsman Klan McCullen is accused of selling weaponry to both the Scots and French. Rather than being executed for treason, the jury brands his face with a white-hot mask in order to humiliate him. A nanotechnology-based weapon capable of destroying an entire city is created by weapons expert James McCullen (Christopher Eccleston) in the near future. His company MARS sells four warheads to NATO, and the U.S. Army is tasked with delivering the warheads. Duke (Channing Tatum) and Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) are delivering the warheads when they are ambushed by the Baroness (Sienna Miller), who Duke recognized to be his ex-fiance Ana Lewis. Duke and Ripcord are rescued by Scarlett (Rachel Nichols), Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Heavy Duty (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). The warheads are taken to The Pit, G.I. Joe’s command center in North Africa, and upon arriving rendezvous with General Hawk (Dennis Quaid), the head of the G.I. Joe Team. Hawk takes command of the war-heads and excuses Duke and Ripcord, only to be convinced to have them join his group after it is revealed that Duke & Baroness know each other.

In a high stakes pursuit of COBRA, an evil international organization threatening to use a technology that could bring the world to its knees, the G.I. Joe team travels the world from the Egyptian desert to the polar ice caps and the streets of Paris armed with the coolest hi-tech gadgets and weapons, including camouflage suits and jaw-dropping accelerator, G.I. JOE is the last line of defense against those intent on world domination.

February 11, 2008 marked the beginning of the filming of this movie in Los Angeles, California. Paramount needed a large stage to get production underway as soon as possible, so the Downey sound-stage was chosen. The first two levels of the Pit were built there, to complement the rest of the building which would be done with special effects. Downey also housed his legitimate weapons factory in an ex-Soviet state; Destro’s MARS base in the Arctic, as well as two G.I. Joes manned various submarines interiors, including a SHARC (Submersible High-speed Attack and Reconnaissance Craft).

The Rise of Cobra was worked upon by six different visual effects companies, the most prominent being Digital Domain, which handled the Paris action, sequences and the opening convoy sequence. A special code was written for depicting how the crumbling metal works for the Eiffel Tower destruction. To create the digital Eiffel Tower, the technicians had access to the original building plans, and built a digital model so complex that could not fit in a single file. Many scenarios were almost fully developed by computer-generated imagery, such as the landing platform of the Pit, the Cobra ice caverns, and the final underwater battle. The nanomites used two different proprietary software for their depiction, one by Digital Domain, and another by, which also created tools to generate 3D cloud and sky environments for the aerial scenes.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is a thrilling movie with all the latest effects & adventures. G.I JOE was a mass enthralling movie which ruled the box office for years & its sequel is creating a widespread craze all over.
